Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Sealy

This is a motel, not a hotel: the room door opens straight onto the parking lot, and there's no central lobby. The nightly rates are somewhat reasonable, truck and trailer parking is available, and plenty of restaurants are nearby. Inside, the room looks recently remodeled, though there are small imperfections and it wasn't very clean. It had a bed with stained sheets, stained bath towels, a window, mini fridge, microwave, couch with a small foot ottoman, and a table and chair. Check-in was slow and frustrating because the front desk had technical problems finishing the reservation. Don't expect much. Your mileage may vary.

The location was ideal, with plenty of restaurants and stores nearby, but this was a total waste of money. The hotel advertised a pool, but when we arrived it was closed and had been filled in with dirt. Our room was 82 degrees, and it took four and a half hours to cool down enough. The WiFi didn't work, and a very active train behind the hotel often sounded its horn at night. Ants were everywhere, including in the bathtub, and staff knew about the infestation but wouldn't address it. We couldn't put anything on the floor. We asked to move rooms and were promised a discounted rate, but the new room had ants too and we never got the discount. We only had two towels for the whole weekend; they were so rough they scratched our skin, and staff couldn't get more because they had no access to the laundry room. The room had been cleaned, but the sheets and other bedding hadn't been changed. The advertised free breakfast was a joke. We were also promised a reimbursement or a large discount on the total stay, but neither came through, and no one responded after checkout. Staff were rarely at the lobby. I waited there for 20 minutes to check out, with nobody around, then had to leave my keys on the desk so I wouldn't be late for my son's race. I have nothing positive to say beyond the location.

The room had been remodeled and was clean. The AC gets cold, the water gets hot, and the bed is comfortable. There's truck parking, with restaurants and a gas station next door. Stay here.

The hosts were extremely pleasant, and the room was clean and nice, with a big King bed. I needed a rest, and woke up the next morning feeling recharged. A perfect stay.
