Sunset Motel

The location was great, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here around a holiday. Kids were screaming and banging on doors outside our room until after 3 a.m., and nobody stepped in. They say quiet hours start at 11, but they don’t enforce them. There are no real rules or limits on parties, and the room was shabby, with a door that barely locks. It was hard to feel safe, and getting decent sleep was out of the question. If you’re 17, though, it may seem like a great price and a place with no worries.

The staff were nice and reachable around the clock by phone, and free parking for one car was a plus. Our room was clean and bug-free, and the price was good for somewhere to sleep near the boardwalk. The beds were stiff and the pillows flat, though, and the place could use some updating. A little work would bring out its potential. Still, it was clean, which can be hard to find in Seaside based on the other reviews I’ve read.

We booked this for my daughter’s birthday and graduation, and it was the worst motel I’ve ever stayed in. The lobby smelled strongly of smoke as soon as we walked in, and the rooms smelled even worse. The bathrooms were dirty and had mold, and the towels were filthy and smelled bad. The beds had nasty stains and felt as hard as a rock. The place is moldy and a fire hazard. I’ll never book there again. Please look carefully before you book.

They were quick to respond and very friendly, but the rooms badly need some kind of renovation. Sand and sticky spots covered the floor, the couch was stained and looked like it had been outside, and there was hair all over the bathroom towels. We had no hot water, no pillow covers, a TV that didn’t work, stiff uncomfortable beds, and blankets as thin as sheets. For the price, you might expect at least decent, and it wasn’t. I wouldn’t recommend it.
