Hotel Sorrento

The parking was the main downside, since it can be tricky and pricey, though valet is available. The hotel is well placed if you want to be near the city without staying right in the middle of the business. The building is beautiful, charming, and well maintained, and the rooms feel cozy. I noticed minor damage to the ceilings and wallpaper, which I’d expect in a historic building. Jordan greeted people at the door at all hours and was friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The rest of the staff and the hotel restaurant were great, too. I’d happily stay again.

The view of the city and sound to the west from the upper floors is amazing. I’m surprised the rates are so reasonable for a historic luxury hotel perched above downtown. The Sorrento is conveniently located, but it feels like more than just a bed to crash in. The beautiful building has turn-of-the-century class in every nook, and the fireside round room off the lobby is worth a look even if you aren’t staying overnight. The restaurant is decadent and delicious, with very reasonable lunch prices. Staff have always been friendly and helpful, and the special events here have each been unique and memorable.

I was looking for somewhere within walking distance of Cap Hill, and Hotel Sorrento fit the bill. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I enjoyed some great oysters at Stella. There’s also a lovely room with a fireplace where you can sit with a drink and friends or read. Can’t wait to go back.

After a long day of travel, my husband and I were thrilled with Hotel Sorrento. It was comfortable, cute, and cozy. One snag: the website doesn’t show the restaurant’s hours accurately. It’s open longer than listed, and we would’ve made different plans if we’d known. Aside from that, a good experience.
