PAULINE W.
The location is one of the few good things about this stay. It’s in a quieter part of Capitol Hill, close to the main street, shops, Lime bikes and intensive care, and about a mile from the Light Link station. Even with the uphill walk, the station is fairly easy to reach. The booking confusion set a bad tone. The hosts thought our start date was different from the date we were supposed to check in, which caused a lot of stress. Booking.com helped sort it out, but without our persistence we might have had no room the night our plane arrived. The room itself felt like a padded cell. The Game of Thrones and dragon theme was poorly done; the tin tack poster over the toilet saying “your butt napkins, my lord” was the only thing that amused me. Getting into every door meant entering a code. There was a separate code for the detached bathroom and the room, and the locks made a lot of noise. The place felt hastily built, with wafer-thin walls and awkward encounters with other guests. We could hear everything, from someone above who might have been an addict to people who may have been arguing or having sex. Our food and beer froze in the fridge. The bed was cheap and hard to get out of, and the blinds let in all the light. When the wind hit them, they made an irritating clickety-clack against the window and kept us awake. Other guests stomped around and left lights on in the shared hallway, and sometimes downstairs, so light came under our door. After days out from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., coming back exhausted with sore feet to one problem after another made this a very uncomfortable place to stay. Avoid it like the plague.

The bathroom isn’t connected to the bedroom. You have to leave the room and use a shared area to get to it, so there’s no privacy. The Hotels.com photo is photoshopped and gives a misleading impression. The curtains are very sheer, and the windows look into another room.
