Silver Cloud Inn University

I’ll be back for four weeks of treatment, so I’ll be staying here again. This is my second time at a Silver Cloud Hotel, and I chose it because it’s close to Fred Hutch Cancer Center. It’s easy to find, clean, and comfortable. The free breakfast is really good, from cereal to fresh waffles, with great coffee and plenty else. The staff are friendly and helpful.

They quoted one price at first, then tried to charge me much more. Jennifer, the customer service representative who took my payment, was rude and yelled at customers. That’s not professional. I requested a refund and they refused to return my money. They tried charging $500 per hour even though the technician did no real work. They said parts had been replaced, but nothing was replaced. A leak search was quoted at $900, with a further $500 per hour if it took more than two hours. At eight hours, that would be $4,000 just for the search, and then they said maintenance would cost another $3,000. That’s unreasonable and unacceptable. When you call, they don’t fix the problem, and they don’t care about customer service. This is the worst company I’ve dealt with. I don’t recommend their services to anyone.

The room was clean, but the toilet seat had dried urine on the part you sit on. I cleaned it myself, then tried to flush the tissue, only to find the toilet was clogged. I called the desk and someone came right away, but nobody apologized about the dirty toilet. I went down to the lounge to use the bathroom, and that toilet wouldn’t flush either. 🙃 I’m used to other Silver Cloud hotels, which are a lot nicer. This felt like Silver Cloud pricing with Best Western quality. The lobby, lounge, and rooms were underwhelming. I drove to the Residence Inn by mistake and started to check in before realizing my reservation was actually at this Silver Cloud. The Residence Inn looked infinitely better. My husband had been excited we were staying at Silver Cloud instead of the Residence Inn, but when he walked in, he realized it was a major downgrade. Sad. I wouldn’t pick this location again, and will stick with Silver Clouds elsewhere.

We were five in the family and had a smooth, comfortable stay. The staff were welcoming and helpful from check-in, our rooms were spotless, and the free breakfast made a nice start to each day. I was unsure at first because the price was lower than many nearby hotels, but we were very satisfied and felt we got good value without giving up comfort or quality. A note if you’re traveling with kids: sofa pullout beds aren’t in every room, and the ones available are twin-sized. If you need one, request it after booking so availability can be checked. I’d recommend Silver Cloud for a clean, family-friendly stay that doesn’t break the bank.
