The good parts were the location, the beautiful view from the king suites, and the relaxing grounds with a fountain by the entrance. Our room was spacious and comfortable, though some features were worn and dated. The fireplace and one of the shower’s side jets didn’t work. A contractor changed the door locks, then left for the day without cleaning up chipped paint and old bolts, and left the room doors wide open. When we raised it at checkout the next morning, the manager started by complaining that she’d been in a meeting and seemed annoyed through the whole conversation. I manage contractors myself, so I understand having to fix a contractor’s mistake. She did give us a small discount, but her tone and body language made it seem she was sorry she had to deal with us, not sorry about the problem. If something goes wrong, management’s attitude is basically to go pound sand.

The back has beautiful views, and the location is the real draw. It’s great for families and makes sightseeing and hiking easy: leave the car at the hotel, then walk or take a bus to trailheads, shops, and sightseeing tours. Breakfast was included and plentiful, with lots to choose from, and the staff were very professional. The rooms are aging, and after eight years of visits I’d say cleanliness is mediocre. The front desk does its job, but doesn’t go beyond that. Still worth the cost for the location.

We spent our 20th anniversary here during the third week of August, and Sedona really is a magical place. The location was everything: we could walk to the restaurants, bars, and shops, and the hour-long trolley ride to Cathedral Rock and Holy Cross was well worth it. Airport Mesa had amazing views, and the vortex gave me all the tingles. Before we arrived, Brittany asked if there was anything she could do. We had a redrock view room, and she arranged a high floor. David at the front desk was lovely and full of helpful information. We got a great fourth-floor room, with only the fifth floor above us and an amazing view. Everyone was great. When the TV had a problem, the maintenance guy with a beard tried everything but couldn’t get regular TV working. They offered to move us, but we were already settled in. We went to the Grand Canyon the next day, and when we came back the TV had been fixed without us even asking or complaining. Brittany also gave us a credit. She went above and beyond to make us happy. Having TV at night was nice, and we really appreciated Brittany and maintenance. Karina was always smiling, helpful, and full of local recommendations. The young woman and man at breakfast were lovely too. I can’t say enough about the customer service. The Arroyo Roble hotel was perfect for us, friendly and very clean, with a nice pool. Thank you again, Brittany and team! Regards, Amy&Rob Christensen

The breakfast was delicious, the staff there were attentive and kind, and the balcony views were great. But the cottage left me very disappointed, and I think changes are needed if the hotel plans to keep offering it. After a long travel day with my family and small children, I found out at check-in that the amenities that heavily influenced my lodging choice weren’t at the Best Western site. They were at the neighboring resort, which wasn’t easy to reach. The indoor pool was also out of service, even though swimming with my young son in the mild February weather was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel over others. The listing should make this much clearer. Getting to the cottage meant going back onto the busy main street and around behind the hotel, past a commuter and camping lot. It had little curb appeal, although the view was beautiful if you ignored the caution tape across the street. Random people kept coming from the parking lot to our car and cottage door, then using the stairs to reach street level. They weren’t employees, and it made us uncomfortable. I’d suggest locking the back gate so people can’t cut through via the Best Western stairs. Inside, the living room furniture was worn out and should be replaced. The upholstery was stained, the cushions so worn you couldn’t sit level, and the outdoor cushions were in the same state. It felt like castoffs that belonged in the trash. I didn’t even want to sit down. A rollaway bed I hadn’t requested was in the cottage before we arrived, apparently because delivery was difficult. I asked for a refund of that fee. We’d planned to watch the Super Bowl in a comfortable seating area, but the cable stopped working after halftime and we missed the rest of the game.

Breakfast was good, and the front desk staff were excellent. The location is great, but the property feels dated and costs too much for what you get. Our first room had filthy carpet, so we moved rooms for the second night. The tip jar in the breakfast room felt tacky given the room rate, as did the online checkout request for a tip. The rooms need to be gutted and updated.
