Starlite Motel Seneca Falls

The room was dirty, and after hours on the road, spending $170 for just 12 hours there was extremely disappointing. I paid $85 to book, then was charged another $40 for my husband and our five-year-old nephew, even though it was a king room and I thought one extra adult should be covered. The website didn't mention extra guest charges. We arrived at 8, so we weren't there long. I knew my two dogs would cost an extra $20 each, which already felt steep, but I was prepared for that fee. The air smelled smoky and stale, the AC wasn't on, and there were stains on the bedding and a chair, plus dirty walls. A mousetrap in the room wasn't disclosed, and my dogs got into it, so they or my nephew could have been hurt. Seeing a trap also made me think the room might be even dirtier than I realized. There was no bathroom mirror, and the fridge was off, so I couldn't put my cold items away right after arriving. I usually pay $65 at Motel 6 for my family and dogs and get cleaner rooms.

Our room looked nothing like the photos. The pictures weren't anything special, but at least they looked fine. We paid over $200 to stay with our small dog, and the actual room had just a red wall with cheap art, no lamps or other extras shown online, and shabby beds with red pillows and a strange OYO throw. The young man who checked us in was the best part, knowledgeable, friendly, and very competent. Lesson learned: don't leave a holiday weekend stay to chance, even in a small town off the highway. Book ahead.

I was exhausted enough to stay, but felt unsafe and barely slept. Funny how management keeps pasting the same long 'we'll look into it' response while reviews have been raising the same issues for 14 years.

The shower didn't work, and several bed springs stuck through the mattress. The site listed a $20 dog fee, but the woman at the counter demanded $25.
