Studio 6 Victorville - Apple Valley

After riding my motorcycle through the desert and checking out some trails, I stopped here while traveling through on my way to NorCal. It was quiet, and I got plenty of rest for the next day. The woman at the desk was super nice, so I even brought her a cheesecake from the restaurant next door. Pretty good for a Motel 6.

We chose this place because we were moving across the country with our dog, and pets are allowed in the room. The front desk woman was stellar, helpful, kind, and funny. Parking had enough room for our moving truck and trailer. But the rooms smelled like gym clothes left in a bag without being washed, and the air conditioner complained noisily all night. Whenever a neighbor turned on a tap, the plumbing made a loud gurgling howl through the paper-thin walls. The lot was lit like a night football game, and that light came through the worn window covering. There were so many warnings about not opening the door to anyone you hadn't identified and not leaving valuables in the car that I slept with one eye open. When the neighbor flushed the toilet, I had both eyes open.

We ended up renting five rooms somewhere else, where I could wait the half hour for my friends and family to arrive from Vegas. I got there first, and within five minutes a short, chubby woman from the office pulled up in her Ford Flex and told me to leave. She said I couldn't wait there for them, even though we were booking a few rooms, and told me to wait at another hotel or somewhere else. She definitely needs to be fired if I were the owner. She was way underqualified for customer service.

The room had no microwave. They let me check in early, and the service was good. The area seemed a bit shady, but for the price it wasn't bad.
