Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Muskegon, MI

Breakfast was a mixed bag. The eggs tasted good but were room temperature, and the gravy was like jello. The biscuits were dry, nowhere near fresh. In our clean poolside room, staff offered to help when they saw me carrying several bags, and the front desk was nice even when my teen asked a dumb question. The curtains were a problem: the heavy ones only closed about two-thirds of the way, while the sheer ones closed fully but could be seen through from the pool when the room light was on. A bright pool light also shone on the person in the second bed all night.

I was disappointed that after paying $250 for one night, we weren’t allowed to take breakfast back to our room. The room itself was clean and nice. The front desk was pleasant, but the night-shift receptionist should speak up and look at people while checking them in.

Families with kids were loud throughout my stay, with children yelling and screaming in the halls at 2 in the morning, so I had trouble sleeping. It seemed like families were coming for parties and pool time rather than rest, which made things harder for people traveling to see loved ones. The location wasn’t what I expected. The hotel was okay, but the room seemed old and only somewhat clean. My pillowcases were stained, which was nasty, but when I asked for clean ones, they were brought right away.

The rooms were comfortable, though they needed a more thorough cleaning. The pool atrium was really neat, with an arcade for kids and adults. Staff were friendly, the breakfast area had plenty of space and felt warm and welcoming, and the location right by Trinity Medical center was perfect.
