Valu Stay Inn

I’m fine with an old roadside dive, but this motel wasn’t good. The water smelled like sewage and left my skin feeling waxy. It was sticky and so dusty it was almost unbearable. They also charge a $50 deposit and don’t allow visitors at all. I’m not coming back. I’ll pay more next time and stay somewhere else.

We were looking for a motel near the renaissance festival, but this place was filthy and run-down. The carpets were stained, the sheets looked used and had stains, and the whole place smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The doors and frames looked like they hadn’t been washed in years. We ended up driving the 2 1/2 hours home and losing the cost of the room.

When I checked out early, the owner wouldn’t refund my extra day and said I’d stolen a towel, even though I brought my own. I was ripped off $138. He’d also gone into my room while I was at work without permission, despite my do not disturb sign being up and it not being a scheduled cleaning day. The owner was rude and biased, the room smelled like mildew, and I found drain worms in the shower. There was a lot of drug activity going on. If you stay, walk through the room with the owner and check everything, since he’s been known to ding people over screen windows. The city should shut this place down.

My family and I are from out of state. My husband and older son are disabled, and I also have a 6-year-old. Our room is huge and has been fully updated. The office staff are very nice, eager to help with anything, and seem happy to have families stay. The rates are extremely reasonable. I’ve read the reviews and strongly disagree with most of them. We’ve had no problems and absolutely no complaints.
