Bill made us feel welcome right away. He was flexible about when we arrived, gave us an island map with a few quick suggestions for what to see, then showed us to a roomy, comfortable room and bathroom with a lovely view across the creek. The place felt private and safe, too. Driving up to the house had us excited, and we knew we’d picked the right place. The location is wonderful, and seeing it made us start daydreaming about the stay. I just wish we could have stayed more nights.

Bill took great care of us, including lending us a tarp to cover our E-bikes overnight and suggesting places for dinner and breakfast during our three nights. We had a memorable weekend exploring Shelter Island by bike and staying at the House on Chase Creek. Our bedroom had lots of natural light from its creek-facing windows, and the king mattress was very comfortable. Sitting on the wicker porch swing above the creek was wonderfully relaxing. Town was an easy five-minute walk for breakfast. Thanks, Bill.

We found the room spotless, with a lovely water view, and Bill was a friendly, helpful host. House on Chase Creek is also in a great spot, an easy walk from both the North Ferry and town. We had a wonderful weekend and will definitely return.

The creekside scenery was so enchanting, I didn't want to leave. My husband and I came to House on Chase Creek for our 40th anniversary, and Bill gave us plenty of thoughtful suggestions that made the trip memorable and heartwarming. Bill was a thoughtful host, with plenty of ideas for things to do and places to eat. The inn is carefully looked after, and you can tell the details have been considered. I stayed in November and liked how quiet and suited to the island it felt. There’s a nice common area facing the water, with coffee, hot water, a fridge, and a microwave. The house was very clean, with big comfortable beds. It’s centrally located, and several restaurants are about a five-minute walk away. Bill also has bikes for guests without a car who want to explore farther, though you’ll want a car to roam the whole island. I’d happily recommend staying here.
