West Neck Guesthouse

The room was bright and clean, with a veranda and a large new bathroom. The bed and pillows were the comfiest, and there’s also a great swimming pool guests can use. Shelter Island House owns this conveniently located spot. We’ve stayed at the main house before, and both places are equally lovely. I did miss having a coffee maker or Keurig in the room, but the voucher for a morning bagel and coffee at Eccentric Bagel shop, right across the road, was welcome. Looking forward to visiting again in the fall!

The room was spacious and clean, with a nice bathroom and bathtub, and the shared seating areas in the backyard were pleasant. The place looks lovely, but for the money, I don’t think it was worth it. We stayed two nights and slept badly both times. A red exit sign lit up the whole bedroom, the fridge started buzzing every half hour, and the thin walls let us hear the neighbors and their baby all night.

The room itself was fine, but the air conditioning didn’t work at all and it stayed 85 degrees all night. We woke up soaked in sweat. They moved us to a room in the main hotel on the second night and said we’d get a credit. We only got $40 off what amounted to a $450 sauna.

We were stranded when we found out our original lodging wasn’t livable, and this place took great care of us. They stayed up until our 12 am arrival, and the whole experience was wonderful. The rooms were very comfortable with plenty of amenities, breakfast was delicious, and having safe off street parking was a real plus. We’ll definitely be back.
