Aloft by Marriott Shenandoah Woodlands Area

I got stuck here after Hilton transferred me because of a burst pipe. What a move, they sent me to the worst Marriott hotel. I’d leave if I could, but I’m stuck. Aloft, what a crappie concept! For work, the place is terrible. There’s no desk in the room and nowhere useful to work in the lobby. No restaurants or shops are within walking distance, and both the campus and hallways are dark. My room wasn’t clean, I couldn’t charge anything to it, and the walls are so thin I heard people and noise all night.

The room was clean and modern, and the location worked perfectly for me. It was a really nice stay overall, except for one front desk interaction. A gentleman there seemed self-entitled and dismissive, which felt unprofessional. I didn’t get his name, but it was Sunday Feb 1st at 9am. I hope management looks into customer service training for him.

I was in Houston for work on 12/22/25 and stayed just one night. Since I don’t care to spend much time there after moving away, this was simply a convenient overnight stop. The young Black woman at the front desk was kind, and the bartender was sweet. I sat at the bar for a while, but that part of the stay was probably a 4/10. The hotel felt relatively safe despite being somewhat isolated from Houston, and I slept fine. Still, the room wasn’t worth the price. It didn’t seem fully prepared: there was no trash can or trash bag, the bed was uncomfortable, and the shower overflowed and only had lukewarm water. The hallways were very dark, which raised safety concerns. It served its purpose for one night nearby, but I probably wouldn’t return. The cost felt more about the area than the hotel, and at that nightly price I’d expect breakfast to be included.

We came for a wedding and like the Aloft brand. The modern, funky look suits us, though I can see it not being everyone’s taste. We met two different women at the front desk and both were really friendly. No complaints.
