We decided to stay at this brand-new Holiday Inn while passing through Sheridan on our way home to Washington. The area was super convenient, and everything looked clean and beautiful. Breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks to Kayla, Iram (I hope I spelled that right), and everyone else.

The view can be pretty nice depending on which side of the hotel you're on. I'm here for a three-week work trip, and the room hasn't been refreshed much. I don't expect daily cleaning, but getting towels and trash bags two or three times a week would be nice. I may have to ask to borrow a vacuum. There was hair all over the floor when I checked in, and it wasn't mine. I'm out of the room by 8:30 each morning, so I'd think it could get a little refresh at least once a week. I also don't want to wake up to music blasting while rooms are being cleaned. By 8 a.m. breakfast is cold, and the eggs made me sick. This is somewhere to sleep, but for a brand-new hotel, it's sad.

The new hotel special was $199, which was way overpriced. I got drawn in by the new-hotel label, but should've stuck with Hilton. I won't be back. We all woke up with bloody noses and nausea, and I think intense VOC off-gassing from the brand-new building caused it. There was so much air freshener in the common areas that it made things worse. On the third floor, every door without a guest was left cracked open. It was a slow weekend with only about a dozen cars in the lot, but there were around 20 open doors between the elevator and our room. I felt unsafe and thought it was a security issue. They didn't give us breakfast hours at check-in, and they closed 10-15 minutes early anyway. The cleanliness could go downhill quickly here. I had to wipe up hair in the bathroom corners and behind the door, and clean a sticky footprint. There was something nasty in the corner behind the toilet that I wouldn't touch, so I covered it with a Kleenex. I would've brought up all my concerns at checkout, but they only asked which room I'd been in and whether I needed a receipt. I could tell they wouldn't address the issues, so I'm writing here instead.

The front desk brushed us off and said there was nothing they could do. Expedia emailed and called them several times about the charge, and we tried too, but nobody responded or refunded us. That's why they get one star. If you book through a third party, be aware of how Holiday Inn handles honest mistakes, even when they haven't cost the hotel anything. We booked on Expedia and realized within seconds that we'd selected a night a week later instead of that same evening. We corrected it right away, but Holiday Inn still charged a rebooking fee of more than $130, which was higher than the room cost. A same-day correction caught immediately shouldn't cost more than the room itself.

The hotel was nearly new and in great shape. Everything was wonderful. I did think it was odd there wasn't a coffee machine in the room, though I don't usually use one. I'd definitely stay again if I get the chance.
