The Foundry Hotel Asheville, Curio Collection by Hilton

We spent several nights here over the holidays during our Asheville, NC vacation. The rooms were very nice, the staff attentive, and the bartenders made fantastic drinks. Valet service was good, too, but I’d still rather park myself than request the car and wait. A nearby lot would make the stay even better.

The room was comfortable and the staff very nice. The location is good, but getting checked in was rough: the narrow entrance was blocked by the number of vehicles the valet team was handling. The app and website make the dining options sound broader than they are. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and weekend brunch. Dinner is ordered at the lounge bar, and the choices are a few light bites and overpriced bar food. As HH Gold members and HGV owners, we expected more from a Curio Collection property.

There’s some interesting history here, it was mostly quiet, and we enjoyed the lounge drinks. The room and bathroom looked clean, with no visible dog hair or dirt, but I hadn’t realized the hotel welcomes dogs. A strong wet-dog smell hit as soon as we entered the room. The staff and valet were friendly. On our second night, though, three other people and I waited a long time before someone who wasn’t assigned to valet could help us. They may need more people on a Saturday night. For the price, I probably won’t return.

We didn’t get to stay at Foundry Hotel this time because it was closed for maintenance, and there was a mix-up with our third-party booking. The hotel apologized and acted quickly, moving us to a great nearby hotel and covering a meal because of the inconvenience. Their accountability and care really impressed us. We hope to stay there on a future visit.
