The people here really made the stay. Ashley, the manager, was spectacular. I was in town for work and stopped by looking for ice, then spotted the great breakfast. I had my 3.5-pound dog with me, and Ashley was happy to pet sit my little killer while I checked it out. The woman making the food was accommodating and amazing too. On my way back, Heather, a housekeeper, gave me extra towels and shampoo. She was kind, clearly hardworking, and told me to let her know if I needed anything. I’m from the Sheridan area, and coming back reminded me that it’s hard to find service this good outside Wyo.

The hotel called 30 minutes before we arrived to say they had no rooms and couldn’t do anything, even though we’d booked a pet-friendly room. Now we’re stuck in a snowstorm with our dog, trying to find another hotel and getting no refund. If they only have a few pet-friendly rooms, that should be clear when booking. Refusing to refund us is crap. This is the second Best Western we’ve had issues with. We’re done trying with them. Two chances, no more.

For the least expensive room on my cross-country road trip, this place served the best bacon. The stay was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was great. The desk staff member checked us in around 10 p.m., welcoming and efficient. At breakfast, another staff member kept the hot food stocked and cleared dishes. I’d stay again!

It’s easy to walk from here to the downtown shops and restaurants, including the must-see MINT bar. Breakfast is included, with delicious biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, and plenty of drinks. The lobby and rooms have western decor that puts you in a Wyoming mood. The building and rooms are older, and the carpet needs replacing, but everything worked. I liked the coffee machine, shower, comfortable bed, and cool back porch with its private lawn. The front desk clerk was professional and courteous. For one night downtown Sheridan, you get your money’s worth.

I booked ahead for Halloween night so I’d have a room near the celebrations, but they wouldn’t check me in. They said their policy doesn’t allow bookings for locals, so I walked home after the events. The front desk women were great and felt bad, and I know it wasn’t their fault. Whoever manages the place needs to kick rocks.
