Drifting Sands Oceanfront Hotel

We keep returning for the gorgeous oceanfront views and the beachfront location. The rooms are spacious and simple, which is all we need, and the comfortable Adirondack chairs on the balconies are a nice touch. It’s not a new or fancy hotel, but it’s well maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

They provide beach towels and equipment for free, and the location is right off the causeway. I had a nice room, then realized none of its many windows opened. The operations manager quickly moved me to one with a sliding door, balcony, and ocean view. Everyone was wonderfully friendly and kind. When I checked that checkout was at 11, they asked if that worked for me, so there seemed to be some flexibility if needed. Excellent stay.

Being able to walk to food and other conveniences from a central spot on the island was a huge plus. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and we’re already looking forward to coming back each season. With young kids, the oceanfront location made beach trips so much easier, and we could watch the water from the balcony during naps and slow mornings. Not having to pack chairs or towels left more room in the car for the cribs. We were really happy to stay at such a fantastic place.

The hotel could use some updating. The carpets need replacing, and the hallway doors by the stairs need paint. A few simple improvements would make it an even better place to stay. Still, it’s clean, the beds are comfortable, and the staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. Our balcony was lovely, and the fridge and microwave came in handy. I’m grateful they provide chairs and towels. The location is a big part of the appeal, especially since it’s one of the few places on the island that accepts pets.
