Suburban Extended Stay Hotel Shreveport Airport

We were there for 11 days because nearby hotels didn't have rooms for our whole stay, so switching would have meant moving three times. The renovation had apparently been going on for over four years, though I couldn't tell what had actually been remodeled. Two hallways were wet, the lobby had no AC, there were gnats in my room, and one day I was told to get my own towels from the laundry room. Breakfast, airport transportation, and the attached restaurant were advertised, but once we arrived in the hot lobby we were told those amenities weren't available. Finding that out at the destination was really disappointing. I'm shocked this is a Ramada. I've never been so dissatisfied with a hotel, and there are plenty more things I could complain about.

The room itself was passable, though nothing special. There were safes in both bedrooms, but nobody at the motel knew how to open them or could find out the combinations, despite my asking several times. For four adults in a two-bedroom suite, we got two decaf coffees and one regular, but no cups or drinking glasses. The kitchenette had no cookware, dishes, bowls, cups, glasses, or utensils. Luckily, I'd brought my own coffee and maker, and I managed to get paper cups. We'd been overbooked. About halfway through our drive, they called to say our reserved rooms weren't available. They eventually found us a two-bedroom suite at about the same cost. Their first alternatives were much more expensive, but I refused and they kept adjusting until we agreed on a price. Nobody mentioned the renovation or that the advertised amenities wouldn't be available, either during the reservation call or when they called to change the rooms. Maybe after the work is done and staff get a lot more training, this could be an okay place. It needs plenty of work.

The lobby was enough to put us off. The carpet was torn and rippled, something kept ringing, there was a buzzing noise, and the lights flickered. Water damage showed on the ceiling, and the shuttle looked like it had been in an accident and never repaired. Staff were dressed in street clothes. After seeing all that and reading other reviews, my wife and I canceled our reservation. It wasn't refundable, so we lost $67, but I was more worried about bed bugs or roaches. This hotel needs a lot of work, and I wouldn't recommend it.

We weren't comfortable staying after the replacement room smelled horrible and the bathroom towels were dirty. The first room key didn't work, either. We asked for a refund, but they only returned the second night's charge and said the manager had to approve the rest. The manager never called. It started with them being unable to find my reservation, even though I had the confirmation number. We contacted the corporate office and are still waiting for a resolution and the rest of our refund. A terrible experience. I'd give it zero stars, but had to select one to post.
