The big renovations are making a difference. The new rooms feel modern, comfortable, and fresh, and they're incredible compared with the older ones. You can see a lot of effort going into the upgrades, and I'd gladly come back once everything is finished. The rooms are clean, nice, and clearly cared for. Hallways can look a bit dirty during the work.

The Sidney, Ohio Days Inn is family owned and operated. It's comfortable, with very little noise, though it isn't a luxury hotel like The Marriott, where rooms are $200 a night. When I was out of an apartment, they accommodated me, luckily I still had money. The staff were the kindest, sweetest I've met in my 45 years on planet Earth. I thank God Almighty, call Him The Heavenly Father, Yahweh, Eheieh, or Sri Lord Krishna if you are part Eastern Indian as I am. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The bathroom really let the room down. Hair, maybe from shaving, was around the faucet, the counter was dirty, and the toilet was filthy around the base with the previous guest's pee. Flushing took forever unless you held the handle down the whole time. The shower and shower head were fine, but the shower gel container was empty, so I asked the housekeeper to refill it. I think that should be checked between guests. The floors didn't seem recently washed, the hallway carpet was filthy, and the windows looked like they hadn't been cleaned for years. The TV remote didn't work, though my son figured out how to turn on the TV with its button and change channels that way. The sheer drapes and their rods were torn to shreds and unusable, though the blackout curtains were okay. Sheets so thin they looked like gauze had holes in the top sheet, and there were several long and short dark hairs on them. I wondered if the sheets had been changed since the previous guest. The pillows weren't great either. On first entering, the room looked decent and upgraded, with nice vinyl flooring instead of the carpet shown in online photos. But seeing room numbers written on doors in Sharpie permanent marker had already made me think this might not be a good sign. The rate may be a good deal, but as they say, “You get what you pay for.” I wonder how the other two hotels in town compare at the same price.

The rate is good if all you need is a bed, but the hotel looks run down and badly needs refurbishment. I avoided showering because of the bathroom's appearance. Carpets were worn, and in some rooms the number plaques were lying on the floor by the door instead of attached to the wall at eye level. You get what you pay for here, so I'd recommend it only if you're after a very “cheap” room.

We were exhausted, so we stayed, but couldn't get out of there fast enough. I don't need a luxury hotel, just a clean one, and I was horrified. There was hair on the sink counter, the area behind the door didn't look like it had ever been cleaned, and the hallway carpets were repulsive. The picture on the wall had liquid stains. I don't know where the website photos came from, but they definitely weren't from the hotel we stayed in. On top of that, a wedding went on all night and the police only broke it up at 6:30am. Don't stay here, even if they offer you a free room.
