Super 8 Sioux Falls Near Convention Center

At $89 for one night, I expected a friendlier welcome. The room smelled, and I could barely understand the staff because they spoke little English. I know breakfast ends at 9, but I went in just to get some watered-down orange juice, and they wouldn't let me help myself. At other hotels with American staff, people usually don't mind. Folks stay for all kinds of reasons, from holidays and business to long-distance travel, and don't need this kind of treatment. Avoid it if you can.

The hallways were shabby, stained, and smelly, and the basement room I was moved to had a musty, strange odor. Its bathroom sink and counter were pulling away from the wall, and the deadbolt wouldn't work. The first room had messy beds and clearly hadn't been cleaned after the previous guests. I arrived at 12:30 a.m., exhausted, so I didn't leave. After moving me to a room below the first, the desk clerk stomped around upstairs cleaning in the middle of the night while I tried to sleep. Nothing about this Super 8 was worth the $80 I paid.

The person on the phone was kind and got us a good rate, and the man at check-in was friendly and helpful. But our room smelled strongly of what seemed like mold, and one bed had what looked like a coffee stain covering the top of the sheets and pillow. My husband was upset, so we asked them to inspect the room and refund us. They did, and we left.

The bedding was stained, the bathroom was grimy, and the online photos didn't look like the hotel we found. We only tried the rooms because, after being checked in at the wrong location due to a booking mistake, we thought we'd give it a chance. Staff wouldn't take responsibility, hung up on me several times while I tried to cancel, and the manager was extremely rude. I spent most of my weekend on the phone with Super 8 corporate trying to sort out the mess. Worst hotel experience of my life. Do not stay here, or you'll regret it.
