The Dakota

It's a convenient place for highway travelers, in a quiet, remote area, and the rooms are spectacular. The breakfast attendant sets up the area wonderfully, keeps it clean and well maintained, and has great charisma. Ronelle Anderson, the morning manager, is amazing. She works hard, is always on her feet, and is constantly seeing to people's needs. If this were my business, I'd give her a raise. Whenever something needed fixing or taking care of, she made sure someone got on it right away. Nothing waits, she handles things herself. Thank you, Ronelle Anderson, for being a GREAT MANAGER.

I've stayed at the Dakota several times over the past five years without any issues, but I won't be back. After my Friday night stay on November 7th, I got a call from the manager on Saturday saying housekeeping reported a missing bathroom picture. I firmly denied taking it. The manager said they didn't believe I'd stolen it either, but the owners wanted to charge me for the picture. I've never been accused of anything so ridiculous. Take before and after pictures during your stay.

We left at 1 a.m. and drove somewhere safe to sleep in our car. Our room was at the far end beside a back door people kept propping open, and all the activity outside carried on all night. There was obvious drug dealing and other shady behavior, which made us feel unsafe. The room was dirty, and the sink backed up whenever we ran water, so we had to brush our teeth with bottled water. The staff seemed disorganized at check-in. The pool was closed for construction, a major amenity we expected to use, and no one disclosed that when we booked. It wasn't worth the money, and I wouldn't recommend staying here.

I was tired of driving and stopped because it's conveniently located off I29. There was plenty of parking for a trailer, and rooms had a fridge and microwave, but the place looked neglected. The grass hadn't been mowed in a long time, hallways and common areas were dirty, and leaves had blown into doorways and still hadn't been cleaned while I was there. Rooms looked clean at first, but were dated and had dirty carpet I wouldn't walk on without shoes or socks. The pool was shut down. Breakfast was terrible, with salty eggs and cold pancakes, though the coffee was good. It's dog friendly, but I was a bit afraid to walk my dogs at night since it's not the best area. The stay was cheap, but they charged an extra $25 for each dog. I wouldn't stay again.
