Best Western Ponderosa Lodge

We especially enjoy the early mornings here: deer sometimes show up near breakfast, and the alpacas have plenty of character. The breakfast spread is excellent, with lots of hot choices and especially good waffles. Upstairs suites feel warm and home-like thanks to their vaulted ceilings, and all the suites are spacious and nicely equipped. The jetted tubs are some of the best I’ve come across. This remains one of my favorite places to stay.

We won't be staying at this hotel or any Best Western again, and I’m very disappointed. My husband and I had booked through Priceline for Valentine's weekend, with plans to leave Thursday the 12th. The booking was listed as non-refundable, but the night before, my almost 80-year-old mother spent four hours in the ER and was diagnosed with Influenza A and acute bronchitis. We were told she needed to be watched. I called the hotel Thursday morning, explained the family emergency, and said we couldn't make the trip. I hoped they might refund something, perhaps Friday while keeping Thursday's charge. They refused outright.

We'd be happy to come back. The second-floor room was roomy and clean, and the staff were both friendly and efficient. Breakfast had plenty of choices, and the staff kept everything replenished. We also enjoyed the hot tub and had fun with the alpacas.

The fireplace and Jacuzzi tub made the room feel worth the price, even though I think we had the most expensive one. It was a wonderful stay, and the best hotel I've ever stayed in.
