After six hours riding through extreme heat, our Run for the Wall group reached the Holiday Inn we’d booked months earlier. We ride across the country for MIA Con, POAs and Veterans, and we usually stay at Holiday Inn, so this was especially disappointing. Our room was humid, over 75 degrees, and had no air-conditioning. The front desk attendant said she was too busy to help, then told us there were no other rooms. Maintenance couldn’t fix the unit and said others had been replaced, but ours hadn’t yet. We had to spend the night there. The bathroom also had hair on the floor and dirt in it. The manager said she’d come talk to us that night but never showed up. We’ve tried to reach her since, with no returned calls or credit for the stay. I wouldn’t recommend this place. It was dirty, the service was poor, and they seemed not to care how the stay affected us.

They gave me the quiet top-floor room I requested, away from the elevator, so I could sleep before getting back on the road. The staff were wonderful, and the room was clean. There are several places to eat nearby, and some restaurants offer hotel guests 10% off. I’d happily stay again and recommend it to friends and family.

Our anniversary weekend turned into a nightmare, and the way the hotel handled it left me furious. We had booked Friday through Sunday, with our two-year-old daughter staying with us on Friday. After a false fire alarm woke the whole hotel at 2:30 a.m. and everyone had to evacuate, my daughter was screaming and I had a panic attack that led me to call EMS. I was awake until 5:30, but they wouldn’t refund even one night. There were problems in the room too. The phone didn’t work, the toilet handle was broken so we had to lift the tank lid to flush, the mirror light only partly worked, and the TV had no Wi-Fi connection, just regular cable. Then they accused us of having THC smoke coming from our room and said they had photos as proof. My husband uses THCA from a legal smoke shop, but went outside to our car to smoke because I don’t smoke, have medical conditions, and can’t stand the smell. Check the cameras and you’ll see him leaving the room to go outside. We smelled THC elsewhere in the hotel too, but didn’t complain because it was their business and Valentine’s weekend. It felt like they used my husband as an excuse not to compensate me for that night. This was my first time away from home in six months, and it was completely ruined. I don’t recommend staying here. The service was very unprofessional.

Debra’s breakfast was five-star, and the hotel was very clean, as we’ve found Holiday Inn Express hotels to be. Still, there was ice at the entrance more than 30 hours after the storm. Very disappointing. It seemed management didn’t care if guests slipped coming or going.

Great HIP, really clean, and the staff were friendly. The pool was good too. It’s near lots of restaurants and stores, and close to downtown and a few other small towns.
