Holiday Inn Express Somerset by IHG

The room was very clean, but the bed was so hard I had trouble sleeping. Breakfast was worse. We came down at 8:30, an hour before it ended, and the eggs hadn't been replenished. What was left had crusty edges, so I ended up with a prepackaged yogurt.

We'd stay again. The room was spacious, clean and quiet, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included, and the location right off the Turnpike was handy.

Breakfast was the best part, followed by checking out. The staff were nice, but the room floor was dirty, and so were the coffee maker and shower head. The motel was under construction, something we should have been told about given the high price. We booked it for the indoor pool, but it was cold and filthy, not swimmable at all. Swimming was the main reason we chose this motel.

I can't say for sure that the moisture or mildew or mold in the room caused how I felt, but it seems possible. I woke up with the sore throat, headache, coughing, sneezing and runny nose I'd developed after we came back to the room, only much worse. We had stayed in room 220 for one night. On arrival I could smell moisture, but I'd encountered that in hotel rooms before, so we switched on the AC and left. Later I started feeling sick. While packing to check out, I noticed a product called “moisturizer absorber” on top of the tall closet. That upset me. It seemed someone at the hotel knew about a moisture problem and chose to put us in the room with that product there. A hotel's first responsibility is guests' safety, and I feel this hotel put money ahead of ours by giving us a room that should have been closed. I didn't take a picture in the room, though I should have; I wasn't looking to do anything, and then my daughter said I should write a review. The picture attached is of the product I found.
