Super 8 Somerset

After reading other reviews, I wish I’d checked before booking. The website is deceptive, and it seems the place has been this way for a while. The outside looked abandoned, and the pictures didn’t match the building. The owner or manager was rude, and the room was disgusting, as if lots of people had been living there without it being cleaned. There was hair on the towels, a filthy drain, and a moldy mat in the tub. The pillows looked like they hadn’t been washed in months and had drool on them. The sheets and blanket were stained, and the air vent was taped to the wall. I wondered if it was under construction. After speaking with the representative by phone and email, we did get a refund and left to find another place.

The staff were friendly and welcoming when my boyfriend and I arrived from Ohio for our reservation in Somerset, PA. The parking garage was well lit, and having an elevator up to the room was convenient. We enjoyed the room and breakfast, and I’d stay here again.

I chose this place because breakfast was included, but at check-in a sign said there was no food due to staff shortages. The hall between the parking lot and elevator reeked of weed. Our room was dirty, the towels were ragged, and the bathroom mirror was smeared with dirt and old toothpaste. The beds were okay, nothing special, and I’d hate to see them under a blacklight. There were dents in the walls and light sconce, and the hallway walls were peeling, water-stained, and dented too. The one bright spot was the overworked staff member, who was incredibly friendly. You get what you pay for, and this could work if you need a cheap place to crash, but I won’t return. They should update the room photos. Whoever took them made the property look much nicer than it is.

I booked based on the price and didn’t have time to read reviews. I wish I had. This was the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stayed in. There were bugs in the water and juice fountain, and my girls swallowed them before noticing and had to spit them out. Everything was dirty, the sheets had poop stains, and the blankets had cigarette burns. The only good part was the gentleman at the front desk, though I didn’t get his name. Stay far away.
