Anchorage Inn

The price felt very fair for what we got, and I’d definitely come back. Kyle(?) at the front desk, the young man with red hair, was fantastic. He made check-in quick and painless after a long drive, and helped me with all my extra needs (I can be needy 😊). Another employee even carried my luggage upstairs. I had a fabulous, relaxing stay at the Anchorage Inn.

The pool was nice, and so was the hot tub, but the rest of the stay was awful. The beds were extremely hard and so low they felt like sleeping on the floor, and the bathroom was closet-sized with no room to move. Breakfast was just granola bars, donuts, and coffee cups about the size of my finger. For what they charge and how the place is advertised as beautiful, I’d never stay here again. One of the worst places I’ve stayed.

The staff were pleasant, and Room 202 did have comfortable beds. The shower and sink water got hot, with good pressure. But the room looked very dated and poorly cared for. There was dried paint in the shower, a battered door with slashes and missing paint, and drywall that seemed to have been soaked before and then badly patched. The towel and washcloth bars were missing, the HVAC airflow was weak, and the badly hung curtains left gaps over the window, so we had to improvise to block the light while sleeping. It made us worry about bugs, though we didn’t see any during our two very cold nights. We could live with the flaws for a place to sleep, but the room’s condition was poor.

The staff were nice, and the location is convenient, but I wouldn’t book this place again. We needed a one-night stay for parents weekend at UVM. Online it looked fine, and some reviews called it dated but nice. Our room was appalling. The furniture was a mismatched mess and in bad shape; the lampshade looked stomped on, and the headboard didn’t span the bed. Paint was peeling from the trim, ceiling tiles were stained, and the chair rail was damaged. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 70s. The carpet was stained and bleached, curtains were slipping off the rod, and the window screen was bent and hanging loose. I wouldn’t even take my socks off. We slept, showered, and left right away. I’m happy to support a family run hotel, but this was disgusting and looked like no money was being put back into the rooms. If we’d had another option, I would’ve left and stayed elsewhere. I also think there may be permanent residents, as another reviewer mentioned.
