For waterfront lodging in Tahoe, this is the best value I’ve found. If you can, becoming an owner is the best option. Otherwise, book a nightly rental when one’s available.

We found a discounted rate for unit W and figured we’d probably get the room people had complained about for lacking a balcony and lake view. I disagree with those reviews. The room was clean and roomy, and since most units have balconies, we had the downstairs deck to ourselves. Watching the sunset with a cocktail there was delightful. It’s a great spot too, close to the lake but far enough from the casinos to actually enjoy being there.

The best thing about Beachcomber Inn for us was stepping right outside onto a walking and biking path, with plenty of trails along the bluffs. Fort Bragg is a wonderful place to visit. The Inn’s family story is heartwarming, and we really enjoyed staying there again. Our room was lovely and comfortable, and we noticed many improvements since our last visit. I have a disability, and we stayed in the accessible room. It doesn’t have a roll-in shower, though there are bars in the shower, and another room does have a roll-in option. The staff brought a bath chair so I could sit while showering. It’s very dog friendly, and there are gas fire pits on the patio.

We had a fantastic view of the frozen lake from our room, which was right beside the water. It was a great way to experience Lake Tahoe’s ice and snow, and I can’t think of a better choice for that. The small kitchenette had just about everything needed to cook and eat. Great for two, especially if you’re on a budget and want to be close to nature.

The location worked well, right by the water and about five minutes from Heavenly Village. There’s a little private beach and pier, an outdoor pool and hot tub that are seasonal, plus an indoor hot tub, dry sauna, workout room, DVD borrowing, and a comfortable shared lounge. They asked us to attend a timeshare presentation, but accepted our no and didn’t bring it up again. We booked a large room for a family trip, and it had plenty of space, a well-equipped full kitchen, and lots of cookware. The futon bed is actually an air mattress set into a futon, and it was comfortable. I’d recommend the place and would probably stay again.
