Comfort Inn South Portland Airport

The location was ideal, near the airport, restaurants, and shopping, but set back a little from the road. The hot breakfast was out of this world, with fresh waffles, sausage, eggs, pastries, muffins, several cereals, juice, coffee, and water. Many places offer a small selection I usually pass up, but here there was a lot to choose from. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable, with updated flooring, walls, linens, and furnishings. I’m a military veteran with very high cleaning standards, and I highly recommend this hotel.

The place is very clean and well kept, and the beds are comfortable. I liked the shampoo, conditioner, and lotion in the eco-friendly dispensers. Breakfast had fresh items, and the other guests seemed decent.

The location is 10/10, especially if you need to be near the airport. It was cheap, and I’ve actually had worse stays at “nicer” hotels. The building didn’t seem run down or creepy, just cheap. I had a good stay and no regrets, though I’m not sure I’d return. A few things bothered me. The bathroom fan vent was hanging loose when we arrived. I found someone’s hair in the towels and linens, so I got different towels and slept on top of the blankets. The window was loose in its frame, causing a horrible draft in winter. It seemed intact enough to pose no safety risk, and the climate controls were decent, though not anything to brag about, perhaps because of the window. The water pressure was okay and the water got nice and hot. I didn’t like the complimentary soaps, but that’s fine. The bathroom door was annoying because it nearly touches the front of the toilet when half open. If someone opens it while you’re sitting there, they’ll hit you. I haven’t seen a staff member smile yet, and they all seem to hate their jobs. There was also a dead yellow spider by the connecting door that looked like it had been there a while.

I enjoyed my stay. The building is nice and the rooms are clean, so I don’t really understand the other negative reviews. My only complaints are that the bathroom door is placed in a completely unnecessary way, the heater kicks out warm air for five minutes and then blows ice cold, and the elevator is so slow for no reason.
