Tru by Hilton Portland Airport Area

It felt very safe here, and being close to the airport was handy. The staff were kind, and our room was nice. Downstairs there was a water bottle filler, plus tea, hot chocolate, coffee, and snacks. A couple small annoyances: the body wash in our shower was completely empty, and the blinds left outside light coming into the room at night. We blocked it with clothes and pillows on the windowsill, but that was inconvenient.

The mall is right across the street, which made the location really convenient. Breakfast was decent, and we had a comfortable stay. Our room was spacious and clean, with plenty of towels and washcloths. When there wasn't a luggage cart available at check-in, a staff member checked every floor to find one for us. I also asked the front desk for a few things during the stay, and they either got them for me or quickly pointed me in the right direction. Solid hotel, with good service.

My one-week trip turned into three weeks, so I got to know the staff pretty well. Everyone was kind and went out of their way for guests. The only thing I’d change is the room size. Staying in a single king room for three weeks felt a bit claustrophobic, and I wish my company had booked a larger one.

Breakfast milk was spoiled, and the rooms were in poor shape cleanliness-wise. Our sheets hadn't been changed, housekeeping never came during the stay, and we had to repeatedly ask for basic things like towels. I asked to switch rooms, but the replacement seemed even worse and appeared to have bed bugs, which was extremely concerning and unacceptable. My stay at Tru by Hilton was very disappointing and felt unhygienic and poorly managed. It fell well below what I expected from a Hilton property. I wouldn't recommend staying here without major improvements to cleanliness, housekeeping, and food quality control.
