The room itself was unpleasant from the moment we walked in: it smelled like old socks, had a large red carpet stain, and only two towels for our family of four. The lobby and pool were packed and extremely loud, with people screaming and acting obnoxiously. We managed just 10-15 minutes of swimming before teenagers and adults crowded out the little kids. Later, as my daughter and I came back from picking up DoorDash, we caught a very strong smell of weed by the lobby elevator. We couldn't leave the hotel without giving up the parking spot they'd finally found for us, and the restaurant menu wasn't appealing, so we were stuck with that situation too. We'd booked nearby to get the kids out of the house and let them swim, but parking was impossible when we arrived because a big dart tournament was happening. Check-in was also frustrating: the woman helping us kept stopping to talk with four or five other people about things unrelated to our check-in. We asked for a refund because we weren't comfortable with the environment and were told no. This was a terrible trip, and we're not coming back.

The night shift employee was the kindest part of our stay. When my wife felt sick, I went down for Pepto-Bismol and ginger ale. He let us put them on the room bill, gave us each a warm cookie, and said he hoped she'd feel better. He was caring and really made the stay enjoyable. We slept okay and checked out without trouble. The elevator was another story. It shot up and down so fast that I was glad I wasn't the one feeling sick. If you have a stomach ache, hold on to the handrail. Our room was nice, though there were no trash bags and some dirty washcloths left inside. For a four-star hotel, I expected better. We were there during our honeymoon, needing a place between stops on our trip. At the front desk, the employee seemed new and asked for my ID even though I'd already booked and paid. He said the room had to be under my legal name. I've stayed elsewhere with my wife without that coming up. I said he could put it under my legal name, but after looking at my ID he asked if someone else had booked for us because the reservation had another name. I explained that I'm transgender, and that if it really had to be my legal name, that was fine. I was open-minded, but frustrated by all the questions. I felt embarrassed by the lack of hospitality. He seemed to backtrack when I got short with him, then welcomed us to the double tree, but I still didn't feel welcome. Please train staff better about vulnerable populations. Someone else who's trans may not be as open-minded as I was. We did get a cookie, which was nice.
Tracy and Katie from the breakfast crew were the friendliest and most professional staff we dealt with. The bed was comfortable, and our room looked out toward the mall area. The hotel is also close to the airport, with a shuttle running there and back 24 hours a day. We were meant to stay seven nights but left after three because of how dirty it was. My husband started sneezing as soon as we stepped off the elevator. Dust and grime were visible from the room doorway, the nightstand was so dusty I had to clean it, and the shower was dirty and moldy.
The food was pretty bland. I was there for a work seminar and had also visited over Halloween weekend. It's a nice place, though I didn't stay at the hotel.
Parking was easy to deal with, unlike at some big hotels, and it's only about five minutes from the airport. The staff were super friendly, the shower was great, and the room was comfortable. Even the TV remote actually worked. Some parts of the room are showing their age, but everything functioned. We'd stay again without a problem.
