The area wasn't appealing, and the location was only okay. The rooms were fairly clean, but the beds were very short. Half the BBQs didn't work, and I wouldn't eat anything from the one that did. Check-in was over a video feed, so I never saw anyone in person. The person on video had a really bad attitude, and it seemed our room had been given to someone else. At one point, we were told they felt oppressed and that we could leave. What customer service?

For our first visit to the Reno Lake Tahoe area, Thunderbird seemed well located, but we can't call it a resort. We booked through Interval International, and this was the second worst II booking out of our many, many stays. Check-in was by phone and TV in a small room, with no basic information about the property. There was no service desk or staff on hand, and no pool towels. The pool area was dirty. I called three times to ask for extra pillows and never got them. The rooms were worn but clean, apart from dead bugs and dirt in the shower fan and light.

The outside looks dated, but that feels like a picky complaint when you're sleeping indoors. Inside, our remodeled two-level, three-bedroom place was super comfortable, very clean, and had a great kitchen. They accommodated an early check-in, and the process was easy. The grounds were clean and well kept, and the woman at check-in was great to work with. It's quiet, relaxed, gated, and only a few minutes from downtown Reno. The pool is good and the rec room average. People complain about no snacks or drinks, but these are condos, so just pick up supplies wherever you like. You get a lot here that a hotel or motel doesn't offer.

The remaining property is the least desirable of what used to be three timeshare properties. Major parts of two were sold or closed, there are no ADA accommodations, and repairs seem slow. The current owners, who may be family, appear to give it minimal care, in my opinion. The owner passed away. Its location near casinos is great, and there is a central park-like area, a pool, and included parking. It's gated, but the noise makes it only fairly quiet: the freeway runs along one side, and dogs at the neighboring condominiums bark day and night. The units are fairly clean and feel safe. Inside, though, the dark, gloomy decor is depressing enough that we had to open all the drapes and keep the lights on. They should replace the interior decorator. The office used to have a fireplace, games and lounge space, and a sauna, but it burned down several years ago and was never fully rebuilt. This isn't a fancy resort, it's a converted apartment building, and some units have been sold to private owners, leaving few available to reserve.
