Holiday Inn Spartanburg Northwest by IHG

The rooms are average, nothing special. What earned the five stars was the kind service from the front desk. Courtney always greets you with a smile and is very courteous. When I couldn't get the room I wanted, she gave me complimentary breakfast.

The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and the staff pleasant. Breakfast was a letdown: it wasn't a buffet or free, and you had to buy $10 cards for each person and order from a menu. Most of the food arrived cold, and the coffee was cold too. I asked for warm coffee, waited until after we ate, then left without any.

The reception staff were very kind, but there was a problem with my online booking. When we arrived, the hotel couldn't find my reservation, so we booked rooms again and called the next day to cancel the online reservation. Be careful if you reserve online. The outdoor pool was so green that nobody was swimming in it. It needs cleaning. There was a lot of extra furniture in the room that wasn't being used. Online, breakfast was listed as free, but it wasn't, and they also have dinner you can order. In the breakfast pictures, the plate with potatoes is the adult meal, and the one without potatoes is the kids' meal.

We had a great central location with plenty of places to eat nearby, and the hotel has its own restaurant with different options. We stayed the night before our daughter's Wofford College tour. The room was spacious, clean, and especially workable for me in my wheelchair, with a defined sitting area, couch, and table. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the staff were helpful and nice. We also had two free breakfast tickets. My husband and daughter said the made-to-order breakfast was great. It was a very nice hotel and stay.
