When I checked in yesterday, I found out the rules had changed: guests now have to be over 21, and pets aren’t allowed. I’d stayed here about a month ago with my dog and toddler, and everyone had been super friendly and great. After I canceled the reservation, they charged my card almost $70. Sharing this so other people don’t get caught out the way I did.

The beds and fridge were clean, and the location is convenient. There was dust on the walls and counters, and the floor needed sweeping. People with breathing problems shouldn’t have to be around that. Still, I’d recommend the place because it’s really affordable. Just be aware the incidental fee is twice the nightly rate.

The room change didn’t solve everything. There were no bugs that I noticed in the second room, but its deadbolt didn’t line up, so we couldn’t lock it. My 9-year-old and I got maybe six and four hours of sleep, respectively. We’d moved because bugs ran across the floor in the first room, and I have pictures. Looking them up identified them as “dusty roach.” We were there for one night, on a visit with my son whom I hadn’t seen in over two months. After we went out to eat, we saw three police cars in the lot. Two hours later, there were nine. A fugitive was in room 228, right through the wall from our room, 230. Police broke the window and escorted him out. It was about 10:15 p.m., and half an hour later we could finally get back to our room, walking past broken glass. They got the person they needed to, but my son understandably didn’t feel safe. Staff moved us, and hospitality was okay, but the woman seemed dismissive. People overall gave us the feeling that this sort of thing happened all the time and we should just get over it. I’m furious. This was disgusting and completely unacceptable.

The room was tiny, with a two-burner stove, but there was no continental breakfast. The toiletries didn’t include shampoo or conditioner, and you need a $100 security deposit. They close at 11 p.m., so if you book online after that, you have to wake the manager and wait a long time at the window for your key. I wouldn’t recommend it. Pay the extra $5 or $10 for somewhere with the toiletries you need and continental breakfast.

The staff were kind and patient with my granddaughter and with people staying there on their own. That welcoming feeling makes the place feel like a family. There’s a new manager now, and they’ve made a lot of changes. It feels safer for everyone, including kids, and I’d recommend it to friends and family. I’m grateful for the staff and the way they treat people.
