Econo Lodge Springerville

The staff were really nice and ready to help, and I had plenty of coffee in the room. It was spacious and looked great, with a beautiful shower and neatly folded towels. I had a fantastic stay and got some good rest.

The office staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean, with reasonably comfortable beds and pillows. The room was fine for a quick stay, but the building is clearly older despite its new flooring. We believe we requested an accessible room because my husband is a disabled veteran. The toilet was very low, and the shower wasn’t walk-in. Although our room was downstairs, there were steps between the parking lot and the parking by the room. Its only window faced the wall of the neighboring building, so very little daylight came in. I was fine with the small breakfast. Other guests mentioned there was no toast bread beyond bagels and no fruit or yogurt options, which you might expect.

We were only there for one night, and the front desk gentleman was rude. The parking lot was full of potholes, and the pet fee seemed ridiculous. We’d reserved two queen beds but were given two doubles. Even though the reservation was in my name, they wouldn’t check us in until it was changed to my husband’s name, so we had to redo the whole booking. We won’t stay here again. The Best Western down the road would be a better choice.

The floors were so uneven that things would roll off the tables. They tried to level one with plastic bags under its legs. We booked last minute in an emergency, and although the advertised rate was $73 a night, the total for two rooms over two nights somehow came to $405. The renovation at Econo Lodge was a rough job, and worse than HJ’s. We stayed at HJ a few months earlier for comparison, and it was much better. HJ had a proper breakfast, while EL’s was lousy.
