The Mansion at Elfindale

Myra gave me such a warm welcome when I arrived. She was friendly, knew a lot about the mansion’s past and Springfield’s history, and made me feel like a guest instead of just another check-in. The room had a fun blend of historic character and modern things like a mini fridge, coffee bar, and toiletries. The bed was comfortable too. I was especially glad it had a soft quilt instead of the suffocating comforters hotels often use. One night wasn’t enough. I didn’t get to enjoy the room in daylight, explore the property, or spend more time talking with Myra. I’ll come back with my family for a longer stay, and I’d recommend The Mansion at Elfindale for a visit to Springfield.

The big concern was the room key. It fit and worked in other doors, so anyone else with a room key could get into my room. I only found that out on checkout day, and it made me feel very unsafe. The shower was uncomfortable to use, too. The sheets were clean, and the person at the desk was kind. The mansion itself was interesting, and the office staff were incredibly nice, though it was very inconvenient how limited the hours were for getting help.

We were in the Jon O’day room, and although the bed itself was super comfortable and we both slept like babies, its frame was ridiculously flimsy, cheap, and noisy. The other rooms seemed to have much sturdier frames. I even thought about buying one and shipping it to them, since we’ll be back many times, but that would be crazy. This was a pleasant surprise. We booked on a whim while planning an overnight in Springfield to visit family, and this is now our first choice for staying in town. The staff were really friendly, and the history and decor throughout are so interesting. We had to leave extra early and missed breakfast. I’m sure it’s delicious next time.

Staying at the venue from when we arrived until after the reception made the whole wedding feel much more laid back. We had lots of family coming from out of town, and many of them stayed there too. We had our wedding at Mansion at Elfindale, and it was exactly what we wanted, with a more traditional feel. It was already so beautiful that we only needed to add to the decor instead of starting from scratch. Every room is lovely and different. Being there feels like stepping back in time, even though you’re right in modern day Springfield.
