Comfort Inn Columbia West

I was traveling with my family, and we all had a great time at this hotel. The staff were amazing and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. There was also a crazy fireplace and patio where we could hang out with family and friends. Great stay.

The hotel eventually gave me a cooler room, but the first one, room 318, was like a sauna when I checked in because the A/C was off. I told the guy that it had been running for 45 minutes and the room still wasn’t cooling down. More than an hour later, reception said they could move me, and that the A/C had been running. In hotter states I know A/C may run 24/7, but they should make sure it’s on when rooms are cleaned. I’m not impressed so far. I booked through Expedia, and they seem to care only if you take the insurance. Trying to reach someone got me nowhere with the AI chat. Great job, Expedia, totally useless.

The room could have been cleaner. The beds looked slept in, and the carpet was very old. At the front desk, the woman was so rude and unwelcoming. She stayed on her phone and didn’t look up when we came in. I said hello and she made herself say it back. When I told her we had a reservation, she rolled her eyes, put her phone down, and barely looked at me. She didn’t even ask for a name. I had to start every bit of the conversation. Wouldn’t recommend it, and I’m glad we stayed just one night.

The room was dirty and smelled strongly musty. I found bugs that I first thought were ticks, but on looking more closely later, they seemed consistent with bed bugs. The next morning I woke up with lots of intensely itchy bites in clusters that looked like bed bug bites. I reported it to the front desk and was told pest control would have to verify. I understand that, but I was disappointed that no one followed up. I offered photos of the room and bug, but they wouldn’t accept them. After no contact the following week, I called and was told the GM would call by the end of the day. No one did. The hotel already had my information and was supposed to call, but still hasn’t reached out. The GM’s response below feels copied and pasted. It continues to seem like they don’t take customer concerns seriously. Even apart from the bug concern, the room condition and lack of follow-through mean I wouldn’t stay again. I’m still hoping management will communicate. I rarely leave reviews, but I’m sharing this to document what happened.
