The place feels calm because the staff and guests seem to know each other and treat one another with respect. You don’t hear late-night shouting or people partying in the parking lot, and there don’t seem to be many issues. Management deserves credit for keeping that atmosphere going.

The hallways are regularly left with food wrappers, cigarette butts, and dirt, and there’s been a large hole in the parking lot for at least two weeks with no repair. Staff seem focused on taking payments and checking people in, while basic upkeep gets ignored. I’ve also been waiting two weeks for a shelf that was already coming off the wall when I arrived over a month ago. The bathroom sink is pulling away from the wall too. I’ve paid for a queen bed, but the frame is full size, so the mattress feels like it might slide off. I measured it and asked them to put in the queen frame that should have been there. I’m still waiting to see how long that takes. When I first booked online, I got a confirmation number, then was told they often double-book and my room wasn’t available. They offered no alternative. Management has been unfriendly, and they wouldn’t let me use a luggage cart, saying none were available and that carts weren’t meant to be on the property. I saw the property’s carts being used often, though. I’d like some compensation, or at least a discount, for the bed being misrepresented.
The front desk staff were friendly, and the manager initially came across as nice, but sorting out my nine-day stay was stressful. I was told I owed 60 cents and was also given a checkout date one day earlier than the nine days I had paid for. A family member had to help me get that corrected, and then another email again said I needed to leave early. I had to contact corporate and jump through hoops to prove I was staying nine days, not eight. They eventually said it was fine, but I never got an email confirming that. They blamed a system malfunction, but the whole thing felt shady and stressful. I was also told police came through regularly over the nine days, but I never saw a single officer drive through the parking lot, even though the hotel is in a busy part of St. Charles with buses bringing people in and out. I’d be cautious here at night. My room was cleaned just once during the nine days, on day six. One morning, the fire alarm sounded and the lights flashed continuously, with no warning. I later found out they were only testing the system. I’m 61, I give honest reviews, and I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.
I appreciate how much the staff try to make this feel like home, and I like the location too. I first stayed here in October 2025 and came back five months later, which I hadn’t expected to do. It was surprisingly quiet, with no kids running through the halls. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be here, but I’m grateful for the kindness.
I renewed after being here for a week, and now it’s Monday, nine days in, and I still haven’t had a warm bath. The water heaters were out for the first three or four days. I changed rooms because the maintenance man went into the hospital while trying to fix my hot water, but these rooms aren’t what they’re made out to be. They slap on some paint and wipe things down, and the dryer even shrinks clothes. I want my renewal money back so I can go somewhere else. This is ridiculous.
