Super 8 St. Charles

We changed rooms and managed to get one without bugs, but we still didn't feel comfortable all night. We won't be back. In the first room, roaches were immediately visible on the walls, floor, bed, and even in the bathroom. The front desk said a couple had stayed there for a month and staff must have missed the bugs. How? Everywhere I looked, I found more.

We won't stay there again. The hotel emailed my wife about her review and asked for the photos and room number, but didn't apologize or offer a refund or discount. It felt like they just didn't care. Hotels.com did give us a $25 credit. Social media is very powerful. I booked a king single handicapped accessible room through Hotels.com for 10/9/25 through 10/11/25. I'm legally blind in my left eye and have partial vision in my right. At check-in, the clerk didn't tell us he thought we didn't need that type of room; he put us in a supposed double queen room, Room 110. We only found out when we got there. He said there'd be no price difference. The bathroom ceiling had mold, and the rooms didn't look recently remodeled as advertised. When we checked out early at 9 a.m., we found a live cockroach on the carpet. My wife told the clerk about the mold, but not the cockroach. I don't know why she didn't.

The place was immaculate, with plenty of towels, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. They had bar soap for hand washing and liquid soap for the shower, which was a nice touch. We didn't smell smoke in the hallways or see any bugs. We arrived for a late check-in around 8:30 p.m., and the hotel was quiet. The front desk staff were kind and polite, and even came up to the room with us to make sure we had everything we needed. I'm not sure what everyone else is talking about. Five out of five, and I'll definitely come back.

If you just need a cheap place to sleep for a night, it's fine, but don't plan on spending time hanging out here. There wasn't much of a breakfast, just cereal and toast. I knew this wasn't meant to be a luxury hotel and didn't expect much. The staff were really great. The elevator was out, and they helped carry my dog's crate upstairs. The hotel needs major updates, with peeling paint and a stale cigarette smell in the room. I didn't realize hotels still allowed smoking, and I should've asked for a non-smoking room. There were homeless people living in vans behind the hotel. Whenever I took the dog out, at least two people were sitting in cars smoking joints and blasting music. I wasn't scared, but it was uncomfortable.
