St. Clair Inn

The Dive bar had good food at fair prices, and the staff were kind and funny. They told us the HVAC was having issues, so we couldn’t set the room temperature, and my research suggests this has been going on for a while. The rooms were tiny for what they cost, and the beds and pillows were uncomfortable. The bathroom door had only about half an inch of clearance from the toilet when open, so we had to close it to get into the shower. The showerhead was so low I kept bumping my head. From the lower level you get a lovely water view, but people can walk by outside and see into the room, so you either put up with being looked at or close the shades. We could also hear the people next door quite easily. I don’t think we’ll stay again, since the room costs too much when you can walk along the river and get the view for free.

Kim at the front desk and reservations is always kind and helpful, and Renée at The Dive is so much fun. She brings people together, gets strangers talking, and makes everyone feel included, like they’ve made new friends. They’re a big part of what makes the experience so good. The restaurants and bars at the Inn are always enjoyable, and the Prohibition/speakeasy is a must for anyone who likes nostalgia. There are fun local businesses nearby too. Great place.

We had a great time looking out over the st. Clair river while we ate. Joy took such good care of us at the Dive restaurant, where the food was good and extremely well priced. The Inn staff were lovely and the rooms were super clean. We also couldn’t control the room temperature because of the HVAC issue and slept in a cold room, though luckily there was a heat wave that weekend.

The food was excellent, our table got the right orders, and all night the staff served us with smiles and good vibes. I went to a wedding at St. Clair Inn in October 2025 and was charmed right away by this unique historical landmark. It has a peaceful vintage feel, surrounded by beautiful nature that’s lovely to look at. I didn’t book a room since we went home after the wedding, so I can only speak to the venue. It seems perfect for weddings.
