Super 8 by Wyndham St. Cloud

I only needed somewhere to sleep, nothing fancy. Since I paid cash, they took a $100 deposit. At checkout, they made me clean my own room even though it wasn’t very messy, then accused me of taking their blankets and held onto my money. I think they’re thieves, and the service was terrible. Don’t stay here. If you do, take before and after photos so they can’t hustle you out of your money.

Breakfast had waffles, coffee, bread, milk, and cereal, and the location made check-in convenient and fairly easy. The hotel was affordable for a quick night, but the room was worn and some amenities badly outdated. It didn’t meet what I expect from the Wyndham name. The shower was especially bad: the water seemed fine when I got into the tub, then suddenly turned hot and later cold. My friend and I couldn’t enjoy it at all. I left disappointed, and wouldn’t choose this place again unless I had no other options.

We found the location convenient and close to what we needed, but that was the only good part of the stay. The continental breakfast was barely anything: two kinds of cereal, bread, and waffles that never set in the machine. In the room, there was visible black mold on the ceiling, pubic hair in the bathtub when we arrived, and a huge hole in the mattress that made sleeping comfortably almost impossible. Cleanliness is a basic expectation, and this hotel failed badly. I rarely post negative reviews, but this was beyond disappointing. Management needs to deal with the serious hygiene and maintenance problems before taking in more guests. I wouldn’t stay again.

After a full day of travel, we were hoping to rest, but the first room had a used c_ndom and wrappers on the floor, and the bed was a mess. I took photos, but won’t share them. The second room wasn’t much better: large stains on the bedding, hair all over sheets that looked like they hadn’t been changed in a while, and dusty lamps and hair dryer. The whole building smelled strongly of weed and smoke. Even the carpet in the room felt greasy and sticky, so my husband and I kept our shoes on when going to the bathroom. We barely felt comfortable letting our infant on the bed, and put one of our own blankets down for her. I hate leaving bad reviews, but it was a terrible stay.
