Americas Best Value Inn St. Louis South

The location was good, but the hotel was among the dirtiest I've stayed in, and the whole place smelled horrible. I booked two queen beds, but since I was alone they switched me to one queen without compensation. There was a coffee pot in the room but no coffee, so you had to take a tiny cup from the lobby and hope there was still some left. My room had no bath towels. When I asked, I got a hand towel and two washcloths. Breakfast wasn't as listed either: there were two cereals but no milk, and the waffle maker was there but the butter was frozen.

We ended up buying pillows and blankets at Walmart, then left and slept in our car after finding somewhere to pull over. They charged us $75 plus a $100 deposit, which we still haven't gotten back. Don't stay here. The room had no fridge, yellow stained towels, a sagging old bed, very thin pillows, dirty sheets, no comforter, and a TV the size of a computer monitor. Outside, there was trash everywhere, dog poop left by guests, and several people living in vehicles with extension cords running to them. The building itself was badly dated, with filthy looking floors and peeling paint. Every entrance door was broken and propped open, and gaps around the room doors let people in the hall see inside.

Roaches everywhere. There were smashed ones on the wall and microwave when we arrived, live ones in the desk, and a midnight surprise in the toilet. The room smelled funky, and I wasn't sure the blankets or towels were clean. I just needed somewhere to crash for the night. It did have a bed, desk, chair, fridge, and microwave. You get what you pay for.

We only stayed because we couldn't get a refund, and I'll never stay at another one. I'll tell friends and family about it too. We had to switch rooms three times. The first was full of mold. The second hadn't been cleaned at all, with blood on the bathroom floor, an air conditioner that didn't work properly, and nothing wiped down. The third was decent, though still not completely clean, and the towels were stained.
