Missouri Athletic Club

We spent five nights here for our son's wedding, and the reception was wonderful, with amazing decor, great food, and exceptional service. We were greeted warmly throughout the visit. The dress code was clear beforehand, so it wasn't an issue for us. Parking in the adjacent structure worked perfectly. The room was clean, quiet, and had a comfortable bed, though it was small with sparse decor. There's a large step up into the bathroom that could be a concern for some. The location was perfect for seeing the city, with the Arch, stadium, and places to eat all a short walk away.

For a downtown stay, this is an excellent bargain. The place is historic and stately, and the rooms differ in size and amenities. The basic queen room can feel a little bare, and the bathroom is small. If you're after something more luxurious, you'll need to go elsewhere and pay triple. It's conveniently located for many sights, especially the Arch, and downtown museums like the Cardinals Hall of Fame, the Blues, and the City Museums. Others are farther away. One thing to add: despite what another reviewer said, the hotel does have a gym and a rooftop tennis court.

Ms. Sheri at the front desk was so nice, and the rest of the staff were kind and made our stay enjoyable. We were at the Missouri Athletic Club this past weekend for an anniversary trip, and the location worked well for our plans. We'd love to stay here again.

The lobby is beautiful, but the rooms are a dump. I loved the Chicago Athletic Club when I stayed there, so I was excited about booking this hotel. What a waste of money. The sink was clogged and draining poorly when we arrived, and it was coming off the wall. The shower was tiny, had no amenities, and badly needed work. When we came back in the evening, housekeeping had left a window open and the room was freezing. There are no heat or AC controls in the room. The front desk told me they don't turn on the heat until it's 50 degrees, and that it runs by the floor. I was absolutely freezing.
