Five Gables Inn And Spa

We mentioned when booking that we were celebrating our 45th anniversary and asked whether flowers could be arranged. On arrival, there was a lovely bouquet of long-stem roses in our room with a Happy Anniversary card. That kind of customer service was even better than the room. The bed and linens were very comfortable, and the whirlpool tub, shower and big, soft towels all exceeded what we expected. It was our first time at Five Gables, and we plan to return. The room was exactly as described on the website.

We stayed in the brick building across the street this time and loved it. The room had cozy country decor, a front porch looking onto main street, and a super comfortable bed. The Jacuzzi tub was so relaxing, and everything we needed was within walking distance. On our first visit we were in the main building, where the room had a lovely balcony, though being near the pool made it a little humid. This was our second stay at Five Gables Inn, and we’d happily come back to St. Michaels.

The location is great, and we left after a nice breakfast the next morning. But the walls in the main building are paper thin, almost like being in a tent between rooms. Guests next door got into an altercation, which made for a rough night. Management came by and calmed things down. The 5 Gables Inn is a nice place otherwise, though I may look elsewhere next time I’m in St Michaels.

We keep coming back to this quaint, relaxing getaway from the DC area, in both summer and winter. The staff at the Inn and Spa are wonderfully personable, and it’s nice to see the business expand into other buildings across the high street. Rooms have gas fireplaces and jacuzzis, plus access to an indoor pool, steam room and sauna. It’s the only indoor pool in St Michaels.
