The mansion is in a pleasant, quiet neighborhood close to Downtown. Mohamed welcomed us personally, showed us around His house, and made us feel at home. The beautifully restored rooms were lovely to look at, and He kindly took care of all our wishes. He also served a delicious breakfast in the morning. We had a wonderful stay, and would definitely recommend this Bed and Breakfast. Mohamed is a great host!

At the New Victorian Bed and Breakfast, historic elegance comes with modern comforts. The welcome feels personal from the moment you arrive, more like being thoughtfully received than simply checked in. The atmosphere is warm and gracious without being stiff or intrusive. There's nothing fussy or quaint about the experience for anyone unsure about a bed and breakfast. Rooms are well appointed, beds are deeply comfortable, Wi-Fi is reliable and quietly integrated, and heated floors make brisk mornings easier. Breakfast is a real highlight: fresh eggs from the property's beautifully modernized coop, served farm to table. You can feel the care behind the details. I left feeling restored and already thinking about coming back.

I grew up in St. Paul and am glad I've found a place to stay when I visit family. This time I booked the penthouse Marshall Room through a third-party site and didn't catch the details about the shared bathroom or that it was apart from the main B&B, though the B&B's own website spells that out clearly. It was no big deal: the bathroom was very clean, and the other guests were quiet and kept to themselves. Breakfast wasn't technically included, but the fridge had fresh fruit, juice, and eggs from the owner's chickens. The place is gorgeous, comfortable, and amazing. I was traveling alone this time, but can't wait to bring my husband back and try one of the suites.

There's a distinctive history to this Victorian bed and breakfast mansion, and it may even be haunted. While touring the rooms late at night, I saw strange orbs or ball lightning a few times. It's a great place for a couples retreat or wedding events, and a good choice if you want to be near the heart of Cathedral Hill. The owner makes a delicious breakfast at 9am.

The house and location were wonderful, and the other guests were interesting, but the service didn't live up to the surroundings. We had a great room with a very comfortable bed, a huge Victorian bathroom and tub, a reading balcony, and a gas fireplace that was tricky to start. Checkout was easy, just leave the key on the dresser. We arrived by train for one night and hoped to leave our backpacks in the morning so we could explore St. Paul. Two days beforehand, we emailed to ask, but got no reply. At 1100, checkout time, no one was there. The Ring doorbell connected us to the owner, who sounded dismayed, said he was at work, then stopped talking mid-conversation. He came back a moment later, said he'd taken another call, hadn't seen our email, and couldn't suggest anything. We went sightseeing with our packs. Not a huge deal, but disappointing. At 4pm check-in, we found another couple waiting outside, and we had a 5 pm dinner booking. There was no host. At 4:15 a resident let us in from the cold, but no one appeared. Around 4:30 we thought we heard someone come in at the back, but nobody showed. We called; a phone rang inside and went unanswered. The host arrived at 4:40, surprised to see all of us with bookings, and immediately told us to take off our shoes. That's a reasonable house rule, but he seemed annoyed even though we hadn't been told yet. After a quick tour of the beautiful house, he showed us the room, explained the amenities and meal times, and tried to give us a key, but there wasn't one available, perhaps because the previous guest had taken it. He brought one later. Breakfast was set for 9, but started late. The host said he'd woken late and served it in his bathrobe. Everyone else got breakfast in turn, but mine was missing. We waited, and it still didn't arrive. Only after we knocked and called did he come over when asked for another serving. He kindly went back and made a plate, which arrived after most people had finished. It was a peculiar visit: a fabulous building and location, but service that turned an otherwise great stay into a mediocre one.
