Gulf Winds Beach Resort

We rented studio #701 for Valentine’s weekend and loved the location. The beach is right across the street, with no traffic, and there are plenty of restaurants, bars, convenience stores, an ice cream shop, a donut shop, and Waffle House within walking distance. The studio was newly remodeled and decorated in a beachy style, with everything we needed, including beach chairs and towels. There was a heated pool too. They even left us a Valentine’s gift of lotions and mists.

The location was awesome, and the people around were friendly. Check-in and checkout were easy, and Alex at the front desk was super helpful. My girlfriend and I stayed in the lower-level studio for a week. It was fairly dirty, especially the floors and bathroom, and the sheets and comforter had stains when we arrived. We could also hear footsteps, particularly at night.

The building has stairs only and very thin walls, so we could hear people in the units above and below us. Some rooms don’t actually have an ocean view, despite what you may be told. For many units, it’s a bit of a walk to the pool, and getting to the beach means crossing the parking lot and walking roughly 200 yards.

We’ve been coming to Gulf Winds for years. After Hurricane Ian leveled Ft. Myers Beach, we tried St. Pete and plan to return. Gulf Winds is well placed for the beach, bars, and restaurants, many of which you can walk to. If you don’t feel like walking, call Island Hopper or Freebie. Alexsandra with TRS was a joy to meet. She was new to this location since our previous visits, and was personable, helpful, and responsive whenever we had a question or needed assistance.
