On day two of our three-day reservation, we woke up with no water in the room and no cable TV. When I asked about it, I was told they “don’t want to call the plumber. He’s resting”. It was 10 AM. They offered another room, but we didn’t want to pack, move, and then pack again, so we checked out a day early. They refused to give me a receipt because we’d booked through a third party. I tried for a refund through the booking company, Best Western customer advocate, and the third party, but every request was denied, even though we left because the room wasn’t acceptable. That kind of customer care is entirely unacceptable. The nice people at Best Western customer service tried to help and seemed astonished by management’s attitude. The facility was older and not very clean, though close to Fort Leonard Wood. There were lots of small black drain flies in the room, and the A/C was weak but tolerable.

There was hot breakfast in the morning, and the staff were very friendly. The room was clean and reasonably priced, with everything working as it should: microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot, and heat/AC. Great water pressure in the shower, and I didn’t hear other guests from my room. There’s plenty of parking, and on the lower level you can park pretty much right in front of your door. It’s right on Route 66 and just off the expressway, handy for travel. Plenty of Route 66 attractions are nearby, including the neon sign park, about five minutes away. You can see all the Route 66 neon signs lit up after dark.

I went in with low expectations for a place like this, but it turned out to be really nice, and so were the people running it. The room was very clean and comfortable, and both our dogs seemed as at home as they would be in our own place. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous. I’d definitely stay again.

The brochure in the room advertised a hearty breakfast buffet, but there was no breakfast at all when we showed up after 6:00. The office area was locked and nothing was set out. We went back and checked the brochure, thinking maybe they didn’t serve on Sundays, but it said it was served every day. Ummmm, nope. We couldn’t even get our receipt because the doors were locked.

We’ve stayed at this location several times while traveling, and the staff have always been wonderful and accommodating. It’s always clean. Some rooms have an older style, but they’re comfortable and meet our needs.
