Holiday Inn Express Quantico - Stafford by IHG

Felt more like staying at a second home than a hotel. Everything was tidy, the room smelled nice, and the shower was clean and worked well. The receptionist was friendly and breakfast was included. 10/10, I'd book Holiday Inn again when I want a dependable stay.

Housekeeping did a great job, and breakfast was good, but the ants and room mix-up made the week stressful. When we first arrived, there were ants on the pillows and nightstand. We were exhausted, so we went to bed and planned to see if they were still around in the morning. There were more. The front desk said maintenance would come spray, but nobody showed up. The next day there were even more, and I explained that my daughter has an ant allergy and carries an epi pen. I asked for a room without ants, and the woman at the desk said, “pretty much every room has ants.” We moved to a higher floor, where I only saw one ant during the rest of our stay. I checked several times during the move that the change had been entered in the system, and the man at the desk assured me it had. The following day, while we were at brunch, he called to ask if I had checked out because he had rented the room we were in to someone else. When people came in with my belongings, I told him he was the one who had moved us there. After a few minutes he laughed and said he remembered. The next day he called again to ask if I had checked out. It was a mess.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. The first room's door wouldn't lock, and when I told the front desk, they asked if I was sure before admitting this happened commonly with that door. They knew it was unsafe and rented it anyway. I was upgraded, which was nice, but they initially tried to leave me in that room, and I had to hope my belongings would be there when I returned that day. On the second night in the upgraded room, a pipe burst and brown water sputtered out of the sink just as I was about to brush my teeth. The front desk said the water would be off for an hour, but guests affected hadn't been notified. I'm glad I didn't use that water. The room phone was disconnected, another serious safety concern, so I couldn't call down for an update. I've stayed at plenty of IHG properties, and this was the worst. The building's management does a real disservice to an otherwise decent brand.

The beds were very comfortable and breakfast was included. Across the street there's a shopping center with restaurants, a supermarket, clothing stores, and more. Wawa is behind the hotel, and the I-95 ramp is two blocks away.
