Red Roof Inn & Suites Stafford, VA - Quantico

The room was quiet, clean, and fully wheelchair accessible as requested. Check-in and check-out were easy, and the front desk service was really nice. The lobby had a bit of a cabin feel. There was no breakfast, which was the only downside. For $80 and some change, it wasn’t bad at all.

After hours on the road, we needed somewhere to rest with our pet. The staff welcomed us and helped with all our requests. We got a king-size bed, a ground-floor room, and they accepted our pet. The room was basic but clean and inviting. Go Redroof.

There was plenty of parking, and a great shopping center with restaurants was across the street, with a Walmart nearby. For one night, this worked fine. To be fair, it’s a Red Roof Inn, not a Hilton. The room was mostly clean, though it smelled like a wet dog, and the bed was horrible. Right outside our room, on top of the hill, there was a homeless encampment with a big tent. How?

My wife and I booked through the official Red Roof Inn website with our credit card, not through a third-party site. Then, just after landing at Dulles and picking up our rental car at 1 AM, I got an email saying the reservation had been canceled. I called the hotel right away, but the receptionist was rude and kept repeating that they were fully booked, even when I tried to discuss our reservation. Once I finally got past that, I was told the credit card had been charged and declined. AmEx support disputes that claim. Somehow the room we’d booked several days earlier was suddenly unavailable at the exact time they canceled the reservation. Surely just a coincidence. At 1:45 AM, in another state, we were left scrambling for somewhere to sleep. I’d stay away from Red Roof if you don’t want to end up in the same situation.
