Country Inn Sterling

We only booked this place because every other hotel nearby was full for an event. The lobby reception area had a basic breakfast spread: toastable bread, two kinds of fresh fruit, coffee, milk, orange juice, cereal, and oatmeal you could microwave. The room smelled bad, especially with the air conditioner off, and it was dirty and in need of maintenance. There were holes in the towels and black stains on the washcloths. We stayed two days without housekeeping, so I can’t say how often the sheets and towels are actually washed. There wasn’t an outlet near my bed or between the beds to charge my phone close by. The beds had sheets and one blanket, with a sheet on top instead of a bedspread. At least the room had a refrigerator, hair dryer, microwave, coffee maker, TV, and iron, though the TV had very few channels. If you can put up with stained, torn towels and the rest, this may work for you. Otherwise, I’d look elsewhere. I would have if there’d been another choice.

After a long day of driving, the Country Inn had just what I needed: a quiet, comfortable, clean room and plenty of hot water. WiFi and television were there too. It’s a small roadside inn, not the Four Seasons, but the owners clearly care about giving guests a good stay. A lovely little find in a beautiful small Kansas town. It didn’t disappoint.

Family-run and very accommodating, this is a nice inn in a peaceful town. There’s an outdoor deck with a grill and sink. I’d stay here again.

The room was clean, and the beds were really comfortable. There were a few small scuffs on the walls, nothing serious. We needed somewhere at the last minute, called Country Inn at 9 pm, and they answered straight away. They had a room and went over to get it ready before we arrived. We had a great stay.
