The employees clearly care about the inn and are doing their best with limited resources. I commend them for their dedication. I stayed four nights in early February 2026, and my room was clean and quiet, with a fireplace I loved. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the location was great, and the price was good. This was once a grand hotel, and it has aged. It feels like the staff are proud of what it once was and what it could be again. With investment in updates, care, and quality workmanship instead of the lowest bidders with no experience, it could once again be one of the best in the East.

The general manager, Duncan, went out of his way to make our stay special. He invited our 8th grade friend who was traveling with us to play her oboe in the lobby as a “mini concert,” and even thoughtfully left her an envelope with $20 in it. That gesture made the whole experience remarkable. We had a spacious, clean two-bedroom townhouse with everything we needed and beautiful snowy views. The staff were so nice, and everyone had fun at the pool and fitness area. We had a wonderful, memorable vacation at Stoweflake Mountain Resort, and I highly recommend it.

The hallways felt like a maze, with long winding corridors, and dogs barked all along the way to our room. Thankfully, I couldn’t hear them once inside. The room itself was nice enough, but the hot tub didn’t work. There’s no restaurant or bar, apparently shut down for more than three years, so you have to walk into town for food and drinks. Breakfast was only cereal and toast, with no cooked eggs or other protein. The place has a lot of potential, but needs a proper renovation.

The room was charming, clean, and well heated, with a high-pressure shower. Breakfast was wonderful too, with plenty of hard-boiled eggs, and the coffee was the best you can find in stowe. I was impressed by how well-equipped the gym was, the best I’ve seen in a hotel. The large property had many empty rooms, and I had a strange feeling from the moment we entered the parking lot that never went away. Something seemed to be happening behind the scenes, though our stay itself was delightful. If you like dicey, dilapidated 90s East Coast vibes, an unbeatable location, and a market price, this could be the place for you.

The staff were very accommodating, and after I asked for a different mattress in the morning, the woman at the front desk quickly moved us to a room in the 200 block. It was much nicer, with a better bed, and the whole staff was great. Our first room, in the 400 block, was tiny and had a space heater. The mattress felt like sponge cake, and I had arguably the worst night’s sleep of my life. My wife and I had planned a long weekend and hadn’t been back since about 1983. The place still kind of looks like it did then. The rooms are old and outdated, but clean, and the open spa, pool, gym, and other facilities were good. It’s a huge building that needs some TLC.
